Other biographers have presented a Thoreau for all seasons, but Laura Walls seems to have done a good job of showing that they're all the same complex fellow.<br /><br />I also returned to <i>Walden</i> in 2015 not long after I moved to the woods, and my impression was much like yours. It's idiosyncratic, but mesmerizing, and so packed with sharp, uncomfortable observations. Plus, it's funny!
